CalMate Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how CalMate (“CalMate”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the CalMate mobile app, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

This Policy applies to personal information processed through:

- the CalMate mobile app;

- the CalMate website;

We collect information you provide directly, information generated by your use of the Service, and information from integrations you enable.

 

A. Account and Authentication Data

- Email address.

- Authentication details (for example, Apple Sign In / Google Sign In).

- Basic account metadata needed to secure and operate your account.

 

B. Profile and Goal Data

- Profile settings and preferences.

- Weight, height, body metrics, goals, and related wellness preferences.

 

C. Nutrition and Wellness Data

- Meals, ingredients, barcode entries, and custom foods.

- Calorie and macro records.

- Water, fasting, activity, and related logs.

 

D. AI Inputs and Outputs

- Text, images, and label data you submit for AI features.

- AI-generated estimates, corrections, and results saved in your account.

 

E. Photos

- Progress photos and associated metadata (for example, timestamp and technical properties).

 

F. Apple Health Data (Optional)

If you grant permission, CalMate may read and/or write selected HealthKit categories (for example steps, workouts, nutrition, hydration, weight, body fat).

You control this permission in Apple Health settings and may revoke it at any time.

 

Important HealthKit statement:

CalMate does not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing profiling, or data mining.

 

G. Usage, Device, and Diagnostics Data

- App events and interaction data.

- Device/app environment information (for example app version, OS version, locale).

- Crash and performance diagnostics to improve reliability.

 

H. Trial Eligibility and Abuse-Prevention Data

To prevent abuse of free-trial access, we process pseudonymous anti-abuse identifiers, including cryptographic hashes derived from installation-level and/or device-level signals.

These identifiers are used only for security, fraud prevention, and trial eligibility enforcement.

- Messages and attachments you send to support.

 

4. How We Use Information

 

We use personal information to:

- provide, secure, and maintain the Service;

- create and manage accounts;

- sync and display your logs and progress across sessions/devices;

- operate AI features you request;

- operate optional Apple Health integration when you enable it;

- monitor quality, performance, and crash stability;

- provide customer support;

- prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, and trial circumvention;

- enforce plan and trial eligibility rules;

- comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.

 

5. Legal Bases (EEA/UK where applicable)

 

Where required by law, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

- performance of a contract (providing the Service you requested);

- legitimate interests (security, reliability, abuse prevention, product improvement);

- consent (for optional features/integrations where required, such as HealthKit permissions);

- compliance with legal obligations.

 

6. How We Share Information

 

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

 

We may share information with:

- Infrastructure and data providers (for example database, auth, storage, backend operations).

- Subscription/billing providers (for example RevenueCat and app-store billing systems).

- Analytics and crash monitoring providers (for reliability and product quality).

- AI processing providers authorized by us to process AI requests.

- Legal authorities or other parties when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

 

We require service providers to process personal information on our instructions and with appropriate safeguards.

 

7. International Data Transfers

 

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own.

Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

 

8. Data Retention

 

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

- provide the Service;

- maintain account functionality;

- fulfill legal, tax, accounting, security, and operational requirements.

 

You can delete entries and request account deletion in the app.

Some records may be retained after account deletion when needed for lawful compliance, fraud/abuse prevention, dispute handling, and security.

 

Anti-abuse note:

Deleting your account, logging out, or reinstalling the app does not automatically reset free-trial eligibility.

 

9. Security

 

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

 

10. Your Choices and Rights

 

You may:

- access and update profile data in the app;

- delete logs/photos in the app;

- revoke HealthKit access in Apple settings;

- request account deletion through the app or by contacting support.

 

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have rights to:

- access personal information;

- correct inaccurate information;

- delete personal information;

- restrict or object to certain processing;

- receive data portability where applicable.

11. California Notice (if applicable)

 

CalMate does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used under California law.

You may still contact us to exercise applicable privacy rights.

 

12. Children’s Privacy

 

CalMate is not directed to children under 13 (or higher age where required locally).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age threshold.

 

13. Changes to This Policy

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we do, we will update the Effective date above.
